What a BIG year for WA’s nature — here’s to 2025!
What a MASSIVE year it’s been for WA’s nature — and it’s all thanks to you!
With your support, 2024 has seen more than 5 million hectares of WA’s nature protected—an area nearly the size of Tassie! Now, more of our landscapes, culture, wildlife and plants will be looked after for future generations to enjoy.
2024 has seen:
- Purungunya National Park becoming the Pilbara’s first new national park in over a decade, protecting 2.7-billion-year-old stromatolites that might hold the secrets to early life on Earth.
- New parks in Shark Bay (Gathaagudu), which will look after threatened animals like the burrowing bettong, Shark Bay mouse and Rufous hare-wallaby.
- Stronger protections for iconic Western Australian landscapes like the Murchison River and Zuytdorp Cliffs in our Mid West to make sure their natural and cultural significance will stick around for generations to come.
These achievements show what we can accomplish when we work together!

With summer in full swing, it’s now the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy everything WA’s national parks have to offer. Whether you’re hiking a trail, camping under the stars, or exploring our stunning coastline—remember that you’ve helped protect these special places for everyone to enjoy.
We’d also love to see your adventures!
We’ve achieved so much this year — but the journey isn’t over yet.
We have some big things planned for 2025 that will protect even more of what makes WA special — and with your support we have no doubt we can make that happen!
