New national parks created in Kalbarri and WA’s Mid West
WA just created 325,000 hectares of new national parks and nature reserves that will provide stronger protection to Kalbarri and WA’s Mid West region on Nanda Country!
Did you know Kalbarri hosts over 100,000 visitors every year? The creation of new national parks means more chances for visitors to experience more of what makes WA so special. It also means greater protection for WA’s nature and culture!
Jointly-managed with Nanda Traditional Owners and the WA Government, Nanda National Park, Nanga National Park and Nanda Nature Reserve will help protect our threatened native animals like the black-flanked rock wallaby, chuditch and malleefowl. They will also provide stronger protection to unique landscapes like the Murchison River and the Zuytdorp Cliffs.

National parks play a vital role in helping to protect WA’s nature from threats such as land clearing, invasive species, climate change, and fire, and help provide an economic boost to regional areas by creating jobs and tourism opportunities.
Congratulations to Nanda Traditional Owners, Nanda Aboriginal Corporation, Yamaji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation and the WA Government for coming together to protect more of what makes WA so special.
With your help, we now have more protection for WA!
