New national park on Kija Country
WA is celebrating one of its new national parks in the Kimberley!
Kija Country is special, and Yurriyangem Taam National Park has some of the most unique nature and culture in WA — check out the video to see for yourself.
But wait…there’s MORE! This park will also:
- Create jobs for Kija people to manage and work on Country.
- Protect more of the Martuwarra-Fitzroy River, one of the WORLD’S most pristine and free flowing river systems.
- Look after WA’s unique animals like the Gouldian finch, freshwater sawfish and purple-crowned fairy wren.
- Support our regions by diversifying economies.
Congratulations to Yurriyangem Taam Traditional Owners, Kimberley Land Council, Premier Roger Cook, Environment Minister Reece Whitby MLA and the WA Government for an epic win for people and nature in WA!
