New national park for Nyamal Country
Who knew the Pilbara could hold such treasure!?
Nyamal Country, just east of Port Hedland, is now home to two new jointly-managed protected areas: Purungunya National Park and Purungunya Conservation Park, now protecting more than 200,000 hectares of WA’s nature and giving everyone a new reason to visit the Pilbara.
Another big congratulations to Nyamal Traditional Owners, Nyamal Aboriginal Corporation, Premier Roger Cook, Environment Minister Reece Whitby MLA, and the WA Government for this massive achievement!
